God Bless America: Evangelical Christians in the USA

Explore who the Evangelical Christians of the United States are and witness how they view the world. Having an estimated ca. 30% (100 mill) believers in the US alone, the Evangelicals and their opinions are hard to miss.

Starting from the viewpoints of how creationism, and not evolution, secured humans birth onto our world and God created the world in six days about 6000 years ago, it becomes clear that science is not a facilitator of truth for the Evangelical. To the Evangelical, truth lies strictly in the Bible. Furthermore, the Evangelical believe system has taken deep roots in the rural areas of USA, playing a major role in the smaller societies.

With a belief system this big, how much does it impact USA as a whole? And what political shifts occur because of it?

By visiting these rural Evangelical towns and cities, the documentary hopes to gain an insight into answering these questions.

With the conservative viewpoints of opposing abortion, pre-marital sex, homosexuality and many others, they place their trust in words shaped by men and women who believe in God. There is punishment for not adhering to the Evangelic way, a ticket straight to hell. A thought pattern which could be seen as a blessing for some and a sickness to others.

To the Evangelical, those who do not believe in the same viewpoints are perceived as enemies. It is a stance which has grown in more recent days, where the 45th president Trump fanned the flames separatism – causing violence and mayhem on American soil.
