My Car Is My Lover explores a fascinating insight into the minds of mechaphiles.

The paraphilia is seen by most societies as a perversion and oddity, effectively shunning those who practice it.

The documentary specifically outlines the life of two mechaphiles, Edward and Jordan.

They are brought together by the documentary filmcrew to undertake the journey of a lifetime in attending a huge car convention.

Although most of their time evolves around romantic and sexual connections to cars, both Edward and Jordan feel very alone with their sexual preferences.

They know it isn’t normal to most people. Their sanctuary of understanding is online, on websites and fora focused on mechaphilia with likeminded peers.

Along the way to the car show, the men reveal their stories and what it’s like to have a ‘full’ relationship with a car.

At a later update in 2014, Edward admitted to that of having sex with over 700 cars.
