Episode 1: Men In Iron

Episode 1: Men In Iron

A little over1000 years ago a new societal militaristic class of people arise in medieval Europe: the are called knights. They are ruthless and live their life by the sword. History praises them as noble ideals to the common man and their tales of glory leaves us with only half of the picture.

The truth however, is the fact that most of the knights joined in chaotic and violent wars, saw joust competitions where injury could cause death, would join crusades in the name of christ to gain riches and save their sins. Upholding a noble status and honor was the highest praise that mattered to a knight, and these warriors would use everything in the book to win these traits.

Episode 2: For Fame And Honor

Episode 2: For Fame And Honor

Honour, glory and respect is everything to the medieval knight. The best way to show all these merits are by joining the crusade to the holy land. Slaying the “infidels” would secure your worth both in God’s eyes and the community.

This episode takes a look how the knight could elevate himself to superstar status. That love, piety and impressive fighting skills would reward any knight with fame, admiration and popularity.

Superhero knights were created in stories, spawning a multitude of new generations willingly set on the path of becoming a knight. Yet even the greatest of knights were outshines in valor and popularity by legends such as King Arthur, Roland, Tristan or Percival.

Episode 3: Last Of Their Kind

Episode 3: Last Of Their Kind

In the early 1500s’ knighthood starts to falter and die out. In this new age, gunpowder, muskets and cannons trump the mounted knights and leave them in the dust. The warfields have no spots for cumbersome armoured knights.

Many imperial knights fall sway to losing their jobs. This sets in motion a rift between the classes where peasant revolt and knights join armies of mercenaries. Here they fight for gold rather than valor.
