Travel with Australian photojournalist David Adams as he Journeys to the Ends of The Earth in search of indigenous peoples and their disappearing cultures. Throughout his many journeys, we’ll visit places few people have seen with their own eyes.
From the dry mountain ranges of Afghanistan, Adams gets to visit the Bamiyan Buddhas before the Taliban damaged the monuments, followed by a trip to Iran in search of the Zoroastrian holy flame.
The journey continues on the Road to Shangri-la in northern Pakistan, followed by an episode on The Lost World of Khmer Rouge and a pilgrimage in Ethiopia to find the Ark of the Covenant.
Finally, in the last episode, Adams journeys to the Peruvian highlands and discovers the uncharted remains of an Inca ruin.

Episode 1: Afghanistan – The Lost Buddhas
Episode 1 tracks Adam as he hitches a ride with the Taliban to criss-cross Afghanistan: a country where few westerners dare to go. David finally reaches the Bamiyan Buddhas in the end.
The Bamiyan Buddhas were damaged later in March 2001 by the Taliban.
Episode 2: Iran – People of the Flame
Episode 2 follows Adams as he ventures into the Iranian wilderness in search of Zoroastrians, an ancient people who have tended a holy flame for the last 1500 years.
Episode 3: Pakistan – The Road to Shangri-La
Journey with Adams, as he crosses the high mountains of Northern Pakistan in search of Shangri-La – immortalised by James Hilton in his classic novel ‘Lost Horizon’.
Episode 4: Cambodia – The Lost World of the Khmer Rouge
Year Zero. The Killing Fields. Preserved by war in the isolated and forbidding final refuge of the Khmer Rouge are tantalising hints of the ‘Asian Unicorn, the khting vor. David Adams journeys through the dark of Cambodia in search of this semi-mythical beast.
Episode 5: Ethiopia – Keepers of the Lost Ark
Episode 5 takes us with Adams as he makes the pilgrimage from Lalibela to Gondar in the northern wilds of Ethiopia, and paddles by papyrus kayak across lake Tana.
His quest: to find the Ark of the Covenant.
Episode 6: Peru – The Lost City of Gold
Adams climbs the lonely Peruvian highlands to seek an Inca artefact that has never been found: the Golden Disk of the Sun. He finds the uncharted remains of an Inca ruin.

Never heard of this series but it’s really solid so far. The Peru episode was super interesting… a completely newly found Inca village no one else knew about wtf?? Awesome.
Man I wish there were more series like this around. The all-around pace and the hosts way of exploring lesser seen things in the world (to me anyway) in an eye-opening archaeological and cultural way is really refreshing. Hats off to you.
