American Juggalo takes a closer look at the Juggalo subculture in America by visiting The Gathering of the Juggalos, a festival of 20,000 Juggalos.
The people who attend the festival are “horrorcore” music fans (mixed together with other types of underground rap music), who band together under the name “Juggalo”.
To a Juggalo however, naming yourself a Juggalo is more than just the love for a musical genre. It’s being part of a family and partying. For a Juggalo, these three things are all you need to have a good life: Family, music and parties.
The subculture developed as early 1994 during a live performance by Insane Clown Posse. During this time – until now – it has created a flow of seemingly original idioms, slang, and characteristics.
Some of these characteristics are painting their faces and having a Juggalo outcry called “whoop whoop”. These outcries are shouted everywhere a Juggalo partygoer goes.
Join director Sean Dunne as we explore their world and lifestyle in American Juggalo.
