Quantum Computing will one day create the possibilities we all fantasise about in science fiction movies, and will push human evolution to the next level.

In today’s world we are on the brink of a major scientific and technological breakthrough; that of quantum computing. Any nation or company who controls a working quantum computer will find themselves well and beyond in advantage.

To illustrate the computing power of a quantum computer – a 30-qubit quantum computer would equal the processing power of a conventional computer that could run at 10 teraflops (trillions of floating-point operations per second). Today’s typical desktop computers run at speeds measured in gigaflops (billions of floating-point operations per second).

What are the current best quantum computers? In 2018 Google publicly unveiled a 72-qubit gate-based superconducting system by scaling its previous 9-qubit system. Publicly, this computer stands at the throne of human quantum computing engineering – surpassing IBM’s earlier 50-qubit processor. The tsunami of technological breakthroughs carries on however, and even higher qubit processors are in the works by several high profile companies and nations.

Experts claim over 100-qubits could theoretically surpass a classical supercomputer. Once humanity achieves quantum computing supremacy, many new technological breakthroughs will be possible – essentially making quantum computing incredible valuable.
